Welcome to our new website

Our mission as a Parent Teacher Organization is to improve our children's education by:
*Increasing family involvement and keeping them informed,
*Working in conjunction with faculty and staff to help fulfill their needs and
*Bridging the gap between our school and the community to build happy, healthy and contributing citizens.

This website has been started as a place where anyone can come to find out what is going on within the PTO of school #80.  We will also do our best to include dates and events at the school itself.  As much as possible, we will include important testing dates, field trip info, concerts and programs, deadlines, uniform info and whatever other information needs to get out there.  It is a work in progress so please be patient.  Any suggestions you may have can either be left on the message board or sent to our email address. ( See below)

We have also established an email address just for the PTO.  IT is highgateheightspto@yahoo.com

Here we are, midway through October already.  The students have had their 5-week progress reports.  We had our first PTO meeting on Oct.9th and we had a great time.  We look forward to making the Pot-Luck dinner an annual event.  Our next meeting is on Tuesday, November 13th at 3:45 pm.  Hope to see you there.

A questionnaire has been sent home for you to fill out.  One thing that we discussed at our meeting was the troubles that some parents may have in attending different functions at the school due to the ability to now choose your child's school.  With this ability comes the fact that we now have students for all over our city and not just our local community.  The PTO would like to do all that they can to help alleviate some of these difficulties and help those parents who would normally have trouble finding transportation, to attend any and all events that they choose.  We are first trying to find out how much of a need and interest there is.  You can help us out by completing and returning this survey to the school with your child.  It is a simple survey with mostly yes or no answers and it should only take you a minute or two.  Thank you in advance for your time.

Our art teacher, Aimee Weiler-Gunn, will be holding pottery classes after school for both students and their parents.  If you are interested, please let her know so that she can set up a schedule.
